250mA Micropower LDOs Withstand up to 80V Input
MILPITAS, CA - March 27, 2006 - Linear Technology Corporation announces the LT3012B and LT3013B micropower LDOs with input voltage capability up to 80V. The LT3012B and LT3013B feature low dropout voltage of only 400mV, while delivering up to 250mA of output current. The wide VIN capability of 4V to 80V makes these devices ideal for automotive, 48V telecom backup supplies and industrial control applications. Additionally, their very low quiescent current as low as 40uA (operating) make them an excellent choice for battery-powered "keep alive" systems that require extended run times. The LT3013B's Powergood flag features programmable delay to indicate output regulation. For high voltage applications that require large input-to-output differentials, the LT3012B and LT3013B offer a highly compact and thermally effective solution. The DFN and TSSOP packages provide thermal performance on a par with much larger conventional packages. The LT3012B and LT3013B operate with very small, low cost ceramic output capacitors. They are stable with only a 3.3uF output capacitor compared to older regulator devices requiring between 10uF and 100uF. The LT3012B and LT3013B do not require added series resistance common to other regulators. Internal protection circuitry includes reverse-battery protection, current limiting thermal limiting and reverse-current protection. The LT3012BEDE/LT3013BEDE and LT3012BEFE/LT3013BEFE are available with a wide-ranging adjustable output from 1.24V up to 60V. Available from stock, the devices are offered in the low profile (0.75mm) 12-lead DFN (4mm x 3mm) package and the 16-lead thermally enhanced TSSOP package. 1,000-piece pricing is $2.05 for the LT3012BEDE, $2.20 for the LT3012BEFE, $2.25 for the LT3013BEDE and $2.40 for the LT3013BEFE.
